DIRECTIONS*: About 40 miles south of Portland on I-5, take the Salem Expressway, Exit 260-A. In about 5 miles turn right on to Marion Street Bridge (Highway 22). Follow Highway 22 for 30 miles to a merge with westbound Highway 18. After 23 miles, merge with southbound Highway 101. Continue south on 101 for 23 miles, through Lincoln City. After Depot Bay, the highway climbs over Otter Crest. About a mile after the bottom of the descent, turn left at the Beverly Beach State Park sign (milepost #134--green marker on right side of road).
From the south, 6 miles from the north end of Newport (Fred Meyer, Safeway) turn right at the Beverly Beach State Park turn off.
Immediately after turning off Highway 101, take a right up the hill on Beverly Drive. At 1/4 mile, as the road begins to top the hill, stay to the right on Avery Street, a narrow paved road by the first house on the right. Follow about a quarter mile, to the next to last house on the right--11429 Avery.
The cottage does not have a telephone. There is a pay phone near the Highway 101 turnoff, by
Beverly Beach Grocery. Most cell phones now work fine at the cottage. In an emergency, a
message can be left with Anne, (541) 264-8210.
Unless we have agreed that we are providing, take sheets, pillowcases and bath towels with you. The main bedroom has a queen bed. The futon in the living room is double. The second bedroom (separated from the main house by a short covered walkway) has a double bed and bunk beds. Ironing board in the closet, iron above the hot water tank.
The kitchen is furnished. Safeway and Fred Meyer are on the left entering Newport.
There is a laundromat by Beverly Beach Grocery, sometimes closed. The nearest one in Newport is at N. 11th and Highway 101, on the left.
Current and past logs have a wealth of information about places to go, favorite restaurants. A couple of useful websites:

Unless we have agreed otherwise, please leave the cottage ready for the next guests: sweep, vacuum, mop; clean sinks, surfaces, refrigerator, stove. Please do NOT use water on the living room floor. There should be a bottle of wood floor cleaner there, if needed.
Dog policy: prior approval and $100 deposit required ($80 refundable). The dog must stay off furniture. Immediately pick up after in the yard. Unless crated, do not leave the dog alone in the cottage. Wipe dirty paws before entering the cottage.
No smoking permitted in the cottage. Properly dispose of all smoking debris on the property.

* From the Puget Sound region, an alternative to dealing with Portland traffic is to take the Northern Oregon coastal route, with bucolic dairy farms and glimpses of the coastline south of Astoria. From Olympia, take Highways 101 and 8 toward Aberdeen. Before Aberdeen, at Montesano turn south on Highway #107, to join Highway 101, passing through Raymond and South Bend on the way to Astoria.
