Clinton A. Snowden Home was constructed in 1890, as a Queen Anne Style Single Family Home. Colonel Clinton A. Snowden (1849-1926) was Managing Editor of the Chicago Times prior to moving to Tacoma in 1892, where he became Editor of the Tacoma Daily Ledger. Later he served as Secretary of the Tacoma Chamber of Commerce. Snowden is also distinguished for having written a 5-volume History of Washington, the Rise and Progress of an American State, published by the Century History Company, New York, 1909.
From 1993 to 2005, Snowden Home was Eveline G Smith’s Austrian Bed & Breakfast. Per her obituary (1923-2017), she hosted guests from all over the United States and the world, well able to direct her guests to activities available in Tacoma and the Northwest.
